Joshua D. Kaufmann, MA

Before joining Praesentia in 2005, Josh spent 3 years in managed care consulting with the US Bureau of Primary Health Care.  His career spans appointments with the Hudson Institute, HealthSouth, and PHI Air Medical where he was responsible for air ambulance managed care negotiations in Indiana.

He completed graduate studies at Miami University (Ohio) and post-graduate work in healthcare systems development at Georgia State University.

Josh’s opinions and contributions to healthcare and policy reform have been featured in CNBC, MSNBC, BBC, Bangladesh Observer, Tampa Tribune, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Cincinnati Business Courier, Indianapolis Business Journal, Indianapolis Star, and Anchorage Daily News.

Daniel J. Hounchell, JD 

Dan founded Praesentia in May 2004. Having worked as a former manager and account executive with Humana of Ohio, he understood the types of tools and leverage physicians needed to level the playing field with health insurers.  This leverage enables  physician groups of all sizes to achieve sustainable reimbursements. 

He is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati and received his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law. He also trained in negotiations at The Pepperdine University Institute for Dispute Resolution.

Dan’s experiences include presentations to medical associations on negotiation strategies, guest on the XM radio show ReachMD, and serving as a litigation consultant in various lawsuits against health insurers.

Dan is married to his wife Melanie. They have three children and live in Cincinnati.
